Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: August 31, 2026
These Terms & Conditions govern use of the Bias Aviation Flight School website and participation in services offered by Bias Aviation Flight School (“Bias Aviation”).
By using this website, submitting an inquiry, scheduling a flight, enrolling in training, renting an aircraft, or otherwise using Bias Aviation services, you acknowledge these Terms & Conditions.
Separate flight-training agreements, aircraft rental agreements, operating procedures, insurance requirements, waivers, and other signed documents may contain additional requirements. Where applicable, those agreements will supplement these Terms.

Availability of individual programs, instructors, and aircraft may change.
FAA Medical Certification
Bias Aviation strongly encourages students to obtain the FAA medical certificate appropriate for their intended aviation goals as early as possible, preferably before making a significant financial commitment to flight training.
The FAA itself recommends obtaining a medical certificate before beginning flight training so that potential certification issues can be identified before substantial money is spent on lessons.
Choosing the Appropriate Medical
Students should consider their long-term flying goals when deciding which class of FAA medical certificate to pursue.
Private Pilot / Recreational Flying
A Third-Class FAA Medical Certificate is generally the applicable medical certificate for Private Pilot privileges.
Commercial Flying
A Second-Class FAA Medical Certificate is generally required when exercising Commercial Pilot privileges.
Airline or ATP Career Goals
Students intending to pursue an airline career or Airline Transport Pilot privileges are strongly encouraged by Bias Aviation to attempt to obtain a First-Class FAA Medical Certificate early in their training.
You do not need to already hold an Airline Transport Pilot certificate to apply for a First-Class FAA Medical Certificate. The FAA permits an applicant to obtain a higher class of medical than is presently required for the flying privileges the applicant currently exercises.
Obtaining the medical appropriate for your career goals early may help identify a potential medical-certification issue before substantial time and money are invested in professional pilot training.
Medical Required Before Solo Flight
Bias Aviation requires students participating in its applicable airplane flight-training programs to obtain the required FAA medical certification before conducting a solo flight.
FAA regulations require a student pilot who is required to hold a medical certificate to have at least a Third-Class Medical Certificate before solo flight in an airplane. A higher-class medical certificate may also satisfy that requirement.
Students must also possess the appropriate Student Pilot Certificate and required instructor endorsements before solo flight. A Student Pilot Certificate is not required simply to begin taking flight lessons, but it is required before solo flight.
Bias Aviation Does Not Issue or Control FAA Medical Certificates
Bias Aviation does not issue FAA Medical Certificates and has no authority or influence over whether a medical certificate is issued, deferred, denied, suspended, revoked, or granted through Special Issuance.
FAA medical certification decisions are made by FAA-authorized Aviation Medical Examiners and/or the Federal Aviation Administration.
Bias Aviation instructors or employees may provide general information concerning FAA medical requirements, but they cannot:
-
Determine medical eligibility
-
Guarantee issuance of a medical certificate
-
Override an AME or FAA decision
-
Provide an FAA medical waiver
-
Guarantee Special Issuance approval
-
Guarantee qualification for a particular aviation career
Students with previous medical conditions, medications, diagnoses, surgeries, mental-health history, or other potential aeromedical concerns are encouraged to research the applicable FAA requirements and discuss their circumstances with an appropriate FAA Aviation Medical Examiner.
TSA Flight Training Security Requirements
Bias Aviation Flight School complies with the Transportation Security Administration’s Flight Training Security Program (FTSP) under 49 CFR Part 1552.
Federal regulations prohibit a flight-training provider from providing covered flight training until the provider has established that the individual is:
-
A U.S. citizen;
-
A U.S. national;
-
An applicable Department of Defense endorsee; or
-
A candidate possessing a valid TSA Determination of Eligibility following the required security threat assessment.
U.S. Citizens and U.S. Nationals
Before applicable flight training begins, Bias Aviation may require documentation establishing U.S. citizenship or U.S. nationality.
Federal regulations require flight-training providers to examine acceptable government-issued documentation establishing citizenship or nationality and maintain the applicable verification records.
Failure or refusal to provide acceptable documentation may prevent Bias Aviation from providing flight training.
Non-U.S. Citizens
Bias Aviation cannot provide covered flight training to a non-U.S. citizen or non-U.S. national until all applicable TSA Flight Training Security Program requirements have been satisfied and Bias Aviation has verified the individual’s current eligibility through the FTSP.
Under current federal regulations, a candidate must undergo a TSA-accepted Security Threat Assessment and receive a valid Determination of Eligibility before covered flight training may begin.
A non-U.S. citizen seeking training may be required to:
-
Create an FTSP account
-
Provide identity documentation
-
Provide immigration or authorization information
-
Submit required biographic and biometric information
-
Pay applicable TSA fees
-
Complete the TSA Security Threat Assessment
-
Maintain lawful eligibility to participate in training within the United States
-
Complete any additional requirements imposed by TSA
Bias Aviation must independently verify the candidate’s eligibility through the FTSP before beginning covered training.
Bias Aviation cannot waive, bypass, override, or disregard TSA approval requirements.
Payment for training, possession of an FAA certificate, possession of a visa, previous flight experience, or enrollment with Bias Aviation does not independently authorize a candidate to begin training when TSA authorization is required.
If TSA determines that an individual is ineligible or presents a security threat, Bias Aviation is required to discontinue applicable ongoing or planned flight training.
Discovery Flights and TSA Requirements
Federal regulations distinguish certain genuine demonstration, orientation, familiarization, and discovery flights used to demonstrate a flight-training program from covered “flight training” for purposes of the FTSP.
Accordingly, TSA requirements applicable to formal flight training may differ from those applicable to a qualifying Discovery Flight. Whether a particular activity qualifies depends upon its actual purpose and circumstances.
A Discovery Flight may not be used to circumvent TSA eligibility requirements for actual flight training.
TSA Documentation and Cooperation
Students agree to provide accurate and truthful citizenship, identification, immigration, and other information required for compliance with federal law.
Bias Aviation may refuse, suspend, or discontinue training when required TSA documentation cannot be verified or when applicable TSA authorization has not been received.
Federal regulations prohibit fraud, material misrepresentation, or omission of required information under the Flight Training Security Program.
Student Pilot Requirements
Before solo flight, a student must satisfy all applicable FAA requirements, including:
-
Appropriate Student Pilot Certificate
-
Required medical certification when applicable
-
Applicable aeronautical knowledge requirements
-
Required instructor endorsements
-
Required flight proficiency
-
Appropriate aircraft-specific solo endorsements
-
Any additional regulatory or Bias Aviation requirements
Authorization to solo is determined by the student’s authorized flight instructor.
No student has an automatic right to solo an aircraft based solely upon accumulated flight hours.
Instructor Authority
Bias Aviation instructors have the authority to delay, discontinue, or modify a flight lesson when they determine that doing so is appropriate for safety, training quality, regulatory compliance, weather, aircraft condition, or student readiness.
An instructor may decline to authorize:
-
Solo flight
-
Cross-country solo
-
Practical testing
-
FAA endorsements
-
Aircraft rental
-
Advancement to another stage of training
until the instructor determines that the applicable standards have been met.
No Guarantee of Certificate or Rating
Bias Aviation provides instruction designed to prepare students to meet FAA certification standards.
Bias Aviation does not guarantee:
-
Passage of an FAA knowledge test
-
Passage of an FAA practical test
-
Issuance of an FAA certificate or rating
-
Completion within a specific number of flight hours
-
Completion by a specific date
-
Completion for a specific total cost
Pilot certificates and ratings are issued through processes established by the FAA, not by Bias Aviation.
Training Time and Cost Estimates
Any estimate concerning the number of hours or total cost required to obtain a certificate or rating is an estimate only.
FAA regulatory minimum flight-hour requirements are not guarantees that an individual student will be ready for a practical test at those minimums.
Actual training time and cost may be affected by:
-
Training frequency
-
Student preparation
-
Student proficiency
-
Weather
-
Aircraft availability
-

-
Career advancement
Airlines and other aviation employers establish their own hiring requirements.
A student’s ability to pursue professional flying may also depend upon FAA certification, medical certification, training history, background requirements, experience, employer requirements, economic conditions, and other factors outside Bias Aviation’s control.
Flight Reviews and Proficiency Training
Completion of a Flight Review, Instrument Proficiency Check, aircraft checkout, endorsement, or other proficiency event is subject to the applicable regulatory requirements and the instructor’s determination that the required standards have been demonstrated.
Scheduling a Flight Review or proficiency event does not guarantee successful completion during a particular lesson or within a predetermined number of hours.
Weather
All flights are subject to weather conditions.
An instructor or pilot may cancel, postpone, modify, or discontinue a flight when weather is unsuitable for the lesson or presents an unacceptable safety concern.
A flight may be canceled even when weather conditions technically exceed minimum regulatory requirements.
Safety and sound aeronautical decision-making take priority over scheduling.
Aircraft Availability and Maintenance
Aircraft availability is not guaranteed.
Aircraft may become unavailable because of:
-
Scheduled maintenance
-
Unscheduled maintenance
-
Inspections
-
Mechanical discrepancies

-
Safety considerations
Bias Aviation may cancel or modify a Discovery Flight when necessary for safety or operational reasons.
Aircraft Rental
Aircraft rental may require additional documentation, aircraft checkouts, proof of pilot qualifications, insurance requirements, operating agreements, or instructor approval.
Possession of an FAA pilot certificate alone does not guarantee rental privileges.
Bias Aviation may establish additional experience, proficiency, checkout, recency, or insurance requirements for its aircraft.
Safety
Safety takes priority over scheduling, cost, convenience, or completion timelines.
Students and renters must follow applicable:
-
Federal Aviation Regulations
-
Aircraft operating limitations
-
Bias Aviation policies
-
Instructor directions
-
Airport procedures
-
Safety procedures
Bias Aviation reserves the right to discontinue services when conduct creates an unreasonable safety risk.
Alcohol, Drugs, Medications and Fitness for Flight
Students and renters are responsible for ensuring that they are legally and physically fit to participate in flight operations.
No individual may participate in operations in violation of applicable FAA regulations concerning alcohol, drugs, medications, impairment, or fitness for flight.
Students should advise their instructor when illness, fatigue, medication, or another condition may affect their ability to safely participate in training.
